The Hellenic Olympic Winners Association and ECALI S.A. honoured our Hellenic Olympic Winners in a brilliant ceremony, held on Monday, 26th September, at the Ecali Club. It was an honourary evening dedicated to their contribution to our country, their successes.
The ceremony was attended by many distinguished athletes who competed in the recent Rio Olympic Games and also in previous years’ Olympic Games, representatives of all parties of the Hellenic Olympic Movement and other representatives of the business world.
In particular, the entire Hellenic Olympic Winners Association Board of Directors, led by the President, Mrs. Voula Kozomboli, and the General Secretary, Mrs Voula Zigouri, welcomed their new Members who became medallists in theRio Olympic Games, among which were Spiros Gianniotis, Anna Korakakis, Panagiotis Mantis , Pavlos Kagialis and athletes from Track and Field, and the Rowing and Water Polo teams.
ECALI S.A. also awarded 40 Olympic medallists of previous Olympic Games such as Pyros Dimas, Nikos Kaklamanakis, Giorgos Roubanis, Stelios Migiakis, Tasoula Kelesidou, Emilia Tsoulfa, Mirela Maniani, Vasilis Polimeros, Dimitris Mougios, Thomas Bimis, Nikos Siranidis, the Rythmic Gymnastics Team from the Sydney 2000 Games, the Water Polo Team from the Athens 2004 Games and others. All athletes received a painting especially made for the occasion by the Greek artist Dimitris Koukos, entitled “From Rio to Tokyo”.
During her speech, the President of the Hellenic Olympic Winners Association, Mrs. Voula Kozomboli stated: "As president, but mainly as an athlete, I would like to congratulate our Olympic Winners and thank them for the glorious, moving moments they wholeheartedly gave us”.
The CEO of ECALI S.A., Mr. John Georgakakis, noted: “The precious moments offered by our athletes during every Olympic Games are so intense that they will be carved in our minds for years. They generate emotions that can only be offered through sports. What makes a Champion stand out in these Games is the mental strength hidden within. This is what makes you Olympic Winners and top athletes worldwide. Every time you move us and make us proud and for this we are very grateful.
The event was presented by well-known sports casters Dimos Bouloukos and Katerina Anastassopoulou, while photography was covered by Vassilis Koutromanos and Nikos Alevromitis.
